A perpetual nail-biter died from this dreadful habit after he was advised numerous times by his doctor to stop.

John Gardener, 40, had a nail-biting trouble that was so big, that he contracted a septic infection that extends from his fingers to his body and became the reason of a heart attack.

Gardener’s doctors alleged that he would bite his nails until there was blood on his fingers. The fingers were injured from this habit, so damaged actually, that before he died, they were numb and he couldn’t feel anything at all.

Dr. Daniel Vernon, Gardener’s general physician alleged that his fingers and fingernails were at all times in poor condition, and they were frequently bleeding when he came to visit his doctor.

The trouble that Gardener had was probably fueled by anxiety and depression. On top of that, he was as well diabetic, which made him even more prone to different infections.

His bad habit became a medical crisis when one of his fingers was infected. The doctors originally treated him with intravenous antibiotics but then determined that they had to remove the tip of his finger.

After the surgery, John showed some improvement. But afterward, just several days after his 40thbirthday, he had a sudden heart attack. Doctors state that it was caused by the infection in his finger.

Chye Ng, an orthopedic surgeon stated that he and his team were surprised by Gardener’s death. John’s mother as well said that he was in disbelief when she heard the news that her son had died. She said that she was in a shock and that this whole situation is a tragedy. John’s family was hit very hard by his loss, and they wish that they did more to help him.

When a toenail develops into ingrown that is a long-lasting disease and it is characterized by the growth of the nail on the one side under the skin.

It can be caused by numerous reasons, but luckily there are a lot of conservative and surgical methods that can resolve the problem.

If you like to leave out the expensive and painful treatments, you can do it at your own home but just if it is in the early phase.

First, you should make your skin and nails softer, using a hot bath. Put three tbs. of baking soda in 5 L of water and if you want you can also put some salt as well. The water shouldn’t be more than 370C.

After you finish soaking, you have to pull out the ingrown nail from your skin.

You can use a sticking plaster on the affected toenail and it will relieve the process because your toenail will become easy to get to.

To lift the nail’s end, put small cotton between the nail and the skin with tweezers, but previous to that, put some antibacterial cream like iodine.

You should change the cotton and the plaster in 24hours. Repeat this procedure for 15 days and your nail will be in its usual condition.

If this procedure is difficult for you, you can use a mixture of one tablespoon of honey and one grounded clove of garlic or Aloe Vera on the affected nail because this combination has antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

You must always remember that the cotton must be replaced in one day. When the process is finished, rub the external part of the nail. You should do some pedicures on regular basis, and if you observe some infection on the nail and pus, you must consult a doctor.

White spots on your fingernails aren’t as rare as we consider and as my granny told me that every lie you will say it will presented itself as a white spot on a nail.

Nevertheless that’s an old believe but nowadays advanced medicine counts on supported facts and throws my granny’s saying in the basket.

In fact up-to-date medicine declares that white spots on the fingernails are triggered by a condition called leukonychia.

It sounds very scary but it isn’t as it seems.

A lot of people state that it happens due to deficiency of zinc or calcium.

Both are incorrect and in fact they happen because of slight trauma to the fingernail and in some of the cases due to some allergy or infection.

Don’t be amazed but they can as well happen even if some medications are taken.

If you feel at all any kind of pain regarding this white spots you should categorically visit the doctor.

Most of the time they are harmless but can be a sing for medical conditions like cirrhosis, anemia, kidney disease and diabetes.

So if you notice them please see your doctor.

In good conscience if you have any worries at all, visiting the doctor is the best for you.
