Hurricane Harvey evacuees can get free rooms through Airbnb

In preparation of evacuations because of the Hurricane Harvey, Airbnb will offer people free accommodations, KVUE reports. 

The accommodations will last through Sept. 1 and it is open to people in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and nearby areas affected by the storm. 

The effort is a fraction of Airbnb’s Disaster Response Program, which was opened in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy.

Kellie Bentz, Airbnb Head of Global Disaster Response and Relief, said in a declaration the company encourages hosts in safe areas to assist their efforts by listing rooms or home for evacuees. 

“Our thoughts continue to be with everyone on the trail of the storm, and we thank the devoted government and emergency reply personnel who are keeping our communities safe,” she said.
